Walk of Philosophy

Well, Kyoto had so many things to offer, and I think you would need almost a week to see it all. We only had about 2 days and with a couple missed turns on the first day, we had a lot to see. We went to the Walk of Philosophy to see the sakura and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed ice cream and some shopping on our walk. We also saw many women dressed in Kimono's enjoying the day. We weren't able to get to where you can find the Geisha (Maiko-san) so we didn't get any pictures. We went to the Nijo Castle, though. Nijo Castle. This castle was created by the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616) and symbolized the power and riches of the newly established Edo-based shogunate. I found the nightingale floors interesting and these where carefully laid floors so that the cramps and nails below the floorboard would rub together and squeak gently when disturbed. I posted pictures on the slide show earlier from more of the trip to Kyoto. We all enjoyed the Bullet train and especially the Berry Cafe! I wish I would have taken a picture of all the beauitful berry pies. We left with 2 pieces and 4 forks and they were some really good pies. There is more to see in Kyoto, and we hope to get back sometime before we leave. We all arrived back in Yokosuka and ordered some old fashioned American Pizza for dinner.
