The day started with Mom and Dad worried that we would have to tell
our 3 year old, who was so excited about going to school, that it would
be cancelled due to a typhoon. Luckily it was not cancelled and she was
able to go, since she asked her Dad this morning, "Is today the 6th?" Harry
said yes after checking his watch and her response was, "Yeah, I get to
go to Japanese school today!" We got ready for the day and luckily got a phone
call from the English speaking person at the school to tell us that she did,
in fact, have school today. The base is basically closed today and Harry is
home from work all day due to the typhoon coming supposedly hitting sometime
in the middle of the night.
We got her dressed in her uniform and started getting some pictures. When she
was ready to go she got her bags and said "goodbye!" We explained to her that we would walk her out to the bus stop. We were able to get several pictures at the end of our street before the bus arrived. Sydney bowed to
her Sensei and said, "Sensei ohayogozaimasu!"--or, "Good morning, teacher!"
Then her teacher took her on the bus and to her seat, and she was looking out the back window with a smile from ear to ear waving at us. It was so cute!
We are anxious to hear about the first day and will find out soon enough!
