Seto Pottery Tour

Over a month ago I signed a couple of friends and myself up for the Seto pottery tour for a day with no kids and some good shopping. The bus ride is not for the pottery non-lover(5 hours each way), and though I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into I thought, what the heck! The other bonus of this trip was the tour guide is a good Japanese friend who I knew would not lead us down the wrong path. Well I must say that this was a much better choice than my first day away from Julia. Kim accompanied me on this trip too, but we didn't have to call anyone for directions this time. I was ready to go with my suitcase, which I lugged with us through the closed-off streets to fill with all my little treasures, and as you can tell by the photo gallery there were many treasures. I did manage to find several Anpanman things that Sydney just had to have, luckily for me she is not into Hello Kitty because that cat was everywhere. I was determined not to go home empty-handed, and I didn't want any buyers remorse either, so I was careful with my choices. I think all and all I did well. I fell in love with the green pottery and bought a couple pieces. I did some bargaining though it was not my forte, I only used the cute Japanese phrase Kazumi taught us, but with a little sign language I got a couple of Yen off most things I bought. The day was not without any drama though. About 45 minutes before we needed to start the climb uphill back to the bus, Mimi started to feel a little woozy. We got her some water and a cool cloth, but as we all know from our great AFN(Armed Forces Network) propaganda commercials, Heat Stroke can affect anyone. We got her cooled off, a seat in the shade and called Kazumi to help us get a cab. Many of us still believe it was all staged so that she wouldn't have to walk up the hill lugging her suitcase. I have many memories from this day and had a great time with the girls!

Looks like this was an ideal outing. Love the pottery, especially the floral piece (appears to be several pieces creating 1). Love to all...

Long bus ride = lots of time to read. Who is that fun looking Japanese lady in the center of the picture? I'm glad you're having lots of fun without me and I'm sort of sad you're having lots of fun without me . . .
