How long can it take?
Well, after living her for 18 months we learned that our mirror in the bathroom
has a heated area so if the light is on, the mirror will not fog up. The area that doesn't fog is still a little low for Harry to shave, but I guess he is not
the typical height for a Japanese man. The other thing that we finally learned after 2 years of living here is how to work the bath tube. You are not allowed to use soap in the bathtub so I figured it would be too hard to get Sydney clean in the shower and then what is the point of the tub. The idea of how to use a Japanese bathtub is that you wash yourself in the shower and get clean then you reheat the water and soak in the tub. The entire family uses the same tub of water and you just reheat the water when you are going to use it. I learned from a Japanese friend that if you turn the tub off once it fills up you can use soap and wash the kids in there. So a couple of weeks ago I asked our neighbor if she knew how to use the tub and found out she had learned from one of her Japanese students. She came over that morning and taught me how to use it. Julia and Sydney were in there soon after that and Sydney asks regularly to get in the tub. Harry and I have both tried it since we have learned, and it will really come in handy in the cold winter months to warm you up. The water will recirculate and keep at the same temperature. You never have to get out because the water is too cold.

Seems as if they're having a good time, but they're going to be upset with this one when they are older :)
