Find a penny...

Pick it up, and all day long you will have good luck, unless you live on a military base overseas. The only place on the Naval base where we are given a penny in change is at the post office. All other places where we use US dollars, the transaction is rounded up or down. The reason for this is it is just too expensive to ship the pennies over here to our banks. This is a strange thing to find out when you get here. I have to admit, I don't miss all the pennies in my wallet. I do have a lot of yennies (what we like to call them) which is the equivalent to a penny in Japanese yen. There is a lot of talk back in the states about how it costs more that a penny to make a penny and what would we do without them. Though I would miss that Lincoln face on the coin, Illinois is the Land of Lincoln you know, but I can say that life is not bad without them.
