Sports Day!

After a cancellation, because of the rain on Saturday, and due to the rain today we had Sports Day inside a gym. They made it a shortened day since we were inside, and I don't think they could play all the games and activities they wanted inside. Needless to say, the shortened day was great for me because really, how long can a 9 month pregnant lady sit on a hard gym floor? Sydney had a rough start at Sports day because she just wanted to come and see her mommy. Many of the kids in her class had the same reaction. Luckily, my friend Robin accompanied me to the event or else I would have been sitting there alone feeling horrible that my little girl was crying. After a little while, one of the Japanese moms close to us told me to go and get her, so I did and she had some water and a cookie and then did much better when she went back with her sensei (Japanese for teacher). The program was lots of fun, and it was pretty amazing what these kids can do. Sydney did have a lot of fun. She received a medal for her participation and a soft soccer ball with the world's flags on it. She even performed in the final song that many of you will recognize, it doesn't stick in your head as much when it is sung in Japanese. She is the second hat in. Sorry you can't see her face but she seemed to learn the song movements pretty well. Enjoy all the photos in the gallery. I tried to get as close as possible but I was also trying to avoid Sydney for a while so she would stop crying. Sydney did perform in the song with another little boy from her class and did a little hand clapping dance! The video isn't the greatest but you get the idea and can see her!
