Akihabara & Shibuya

With our weekend in Tokyo we decided to venture out and check out some areas that we haven't seen yet. We went to Akihabara on Saturday (the electronics district). There where mostly men shopping this area and a lot of tourists. There where many long lines outside of the Pachinko Parlors. Pachinko as defined by the dictionary is a Japanese gaming device used for amusement and prizes and is related to pinball machines. Although originally strictly mechanical, modern pachinko machines are a cross between a pinball machine and a video slot machine. Anyway our best explanation for these long lines was a big tournament going on since the lines went all the way down the street at times. We looked at some of the electronics and found a couple of unique jump drives for your computer that you all may find entertaining. Sunday after Syd and I played at the park and went and bought daddy coffee for Daddy's day as Sydney likes to call it, we headed out to Shibuya. Shibuya is the area of Tokyo that is in every movie that you see about Japan. It is famous for all the TV's on the buildings with advertisement. For a somewhat accurate picture of Japan check out the movie Lost in Translation. Shibuya had many different stores and many twenty to thirty something people walking around. I did get one good picture of the famous crosswalk before I was told by the nice Starbucks worker no pictures please. The Starbucks on the corner has a 2nd story view of the famous crosswalk. I also was able to get a picture of Sydney with one of the big buildings behind her. It was amazing the big buildings and how many stores they can fit into one building. There where a variety of people dressed in many different clothes. I saw a little Bo Peep look alike but wasn't fast enough to get a picture. As far as weekends go we had a good time. Harry and I splurged and went to the 5 star restaurant at the hotel on Saturday night and got Sydney a babysitter. We really enjoyed our meal and had a relaxing dinner. I took some pictures of ramdon things also. Here is one of a tag for some jeans in a store. As you can see many things have English on them but don't make much sense. I also took a picture of an interesting store that we found funny, advertising for safe sex. We didn't vernture in side but took a picture to share.
