Ikebana celbrates the New Year!

We had the pleasure of joining many of our friends at this year's celebration of the Japanese New Year! We would first like to thank the Bryant Family for allowing us to attend this event without our 2 little girls in tow! We had a great time with the mochi pounding, taiko drum performance and just enjoying the nice weather at the private grounds next to the Great Buddha shrine in Kamakura! I talked to Mrs. Purdy, whose husband our new gym on base was named after, and also the Vice Ambassador of Spain. I also tried this mochi pounding for myself with my friend Nicole. This was a great time and it was fun to see all the traditional Japanese New Year. Harry is going to start Taiko drum lessons on base, so maybe he will demonstrate for all of us next year.
