April Fool's

Happy Birthday Mommy!

We had a great Birthday weekend. It started Friday night when we had a sitter for Syd. Harry and I went up to Yokohama and had a great dinner at an Italian restaurant. It was a great evening.

Then on the big day we went to church, and there was a Cherry Blossom Festival on base so we went to that after church. It was so much fun and the weather was beautiful. The Cherry blossoms where in full bloom and it was perfect. I found out the other day that we have Tokyo to thank for Washington DC's Cherry blossom festival. Our friend Amy Perkins mentioned it to me and she wasn't positive so I Googled it and she was right. Cherry trees were a gift from Tokyo over 50 years ago. I have always wanted to get to DC for the festival but I guess how I don't have to since I live where they originated.

They open the base up to Japanese for the festival, and the Japanese come on base and buy lots of American foods for half the price they can get off base. The also buy a lot of pizza. I must say that our base pizza is less than great, but I guess the Japanese don't know that. They all take 2-3 pizzas home at the end of the day. I also got some pictures of the tent they had set up with snacks and chips there. We had a great day and enjoyed the festival.
